Timed Score

I want to add time score to my game (e.g, if you finish the level with 73 seconds left, you get that as extra score)
Can anyone give me any help/pointers to do this? im thinking it like this:

CODE
You create a variable called time_score. every second decreases by one. at the end the variable is displayed, and (somehoe) is converted to score, however, if variable time_score reaches zero, set lives -1 (releative).

However, i dont know how to contol the second-timer and how to convert the variable

Any help? please explain if code, i wouldnt understand a thing if the above was in code

what code would i input if i wanted the game to display the text 'Time Up' for 5 secs, then you lose one life and restarts the room and timer?

something like that... I'm not sure about the draw text code cuz it's been a long time since I've had to use it
